Overview
As part of the institutional transformation programme, and a way of fulfilling one of its three objectives of teaching, research and offering consultancy services to the public, the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (ARU) has now formed a Consultancy Unit (ACU), whose main objectives include the following:
- To increase the quality and quantity of contracted research, consultancy and related undertakings executed by the ARU
- To effectively co-ordinate the contracted research and consultancy jobs undertaken by the ARU
- To contribute more effectively towards assisting in solving problems which may hinder the overall development of the nation
- To facilitate improvements in the overall contractual research and consultancy capacity
- To identify potential research and contracted research that could be undertaken by ARU and
- To market ARU in terms of its abilities and potentialities of carrying out consultancy and research
ARU Consultancy Policy
The University has setup an Operational Policy and Procedures for the Consultancy Service .
The Operational Policy and Procedures aim at ensuring dynamism, co-ordination, control, quality assurance and specific performance in the running of consultancy services.
It was developed by a team of consultants and were discussed at various participatory organs, before their final approval by the University.
Full details of the policy is available in the following booklet: ARU Consultancy Policy
Quality control and quality assurance
Quality assurance and control is increasingly becoming an integral part in consultancy services not only to remain in a competitive market and enhanced consultants’ professional competence, but also to meet customers’ satisfaction. With this realization, it was inevitable that ARU operationalises the Consultancy Policy (2001) with a view to devising mechanisms to ensure quality consultancy services in time.
Full details of the system is available in the Mechanisms for quality control and quality assurance for consultancy services at ARU document.
