Welcome to our Library Welcome to ARU Library, offering a large collection of books, reviews, journals, newspapers and magazines. We are located in the four storey building facing the main entrance of the University. The library has computer facilities with internet connections for the students convenience, in a calm and relaxing environment, condusive for studying. |

Library Background The existing Ardhi University Library is a result of institutional transformation, Programme which has taken place over the years. The perfection of Ardhi University Library to date is therefore attributed to the growth and development of its parent institution. Initially, the library used to serve information needs of the Survey Training Centre for training land Survey technician, and in 1971 it served Ardhi Institute, offering professional diploma level training courses. On October 24, 1974, Ardhi Institute was made a Parastatal organization under Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. In 1996 Ardhi Institute became the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS), a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaan until March, 2007 when the President of the united Republic of Tanzania, H. E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete declared UCLAS an independent University, thus Ardhi University was born. Now Ardhi University library serves the information needs of undergraduate, and postgraduate students, lecturers, researchers, and practicing professionals within the framework of the existing six schools namely: School of Architecture and Design (SADE), School of Real Estate Studies (SRES), School of Construction Economics and Management (SCEM), School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP) School of Environmental Science and Technology (SEST), School of Geomatics Science and Technology (SGST). The Library also cater for information needs of researchers in the aspects of human settlements, which are carried out and coordinated by the Institute of Human Settlement Studies (IHSS) and programmes of continuing education coordinated by Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) in regard to the widening of the University?s programmes and increment in enrollment of students has called for equipping the library within materials and resources that can proactively respond to the current library users information needs within the overall new responsibilities of the library which are provision of information, services, and materials to support learning, teaching, research, and consultancy services. |
