Ardhi University 18th Graduation Ceremony

 

The Chancellor of Ardhi University (ARU) and retired Chief Justice of Tanzania, Hon. Mohamed Chande Othman, today, December 5, 2024, conferred degrees to 1,453 graduate at  various levels of Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorates.

In the 18th graduation ceremony, 1,356 graduates received bachelor's degrees, 86 master's degrees, and 11 doctorates.

Providing an update on the university's various strategies, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Evaristo Liwa, stated that the number of graduates has increased from 1,148 last year to 1,453 this year, while the main goal is to reach 13,000 graduates by 2029.

Prof. Liwa stated that the goal of enrolling 13,000 will be achieved through the Higher Education for Economic Transformation Project (HEET), which is funded by the World Bank through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The project aims to enhance higher education as a catalyst for Tanzania's new economy.

He explained that the HEET project is heavily investing in teaching infrastructures, conducting modern research, updating curricula, and introducing new curricula that meet the changing demands of the market.

During the event, the Chairperson of ARU Council, Ambassador Salome Sijaona, expressed her gratitude to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, for reappointing her for a second term. She assured the ARU Community and the government in general that she will continue to serve the university and that she is eager to bring new developmental strategies, which will indeed enable the university to contribute effectively to the country's economy.

Ambassador Sijaona urged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the university and carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and excellence, as directed by the university's motto.
