Geographic Information System (GIS) Education Summit and GIS Day at Ardhi University

 

Ardhi University in collaboration with Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) East Africa organized an educational summit program to celebrate the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) day on 22nd, November 2022 in Room number 76, histed by the Department of Geospatial Sciences and Technology, School of Earth Sciences, Teal Rstate, Business Studies at Ardhi University. It was officially opened by Prof. Evaristo Liwa, Vice-Chancellor of Ardhi University.

The main organiser of the summit was Dr. Atupelye Komba of Ardhi University and Ms. Noris Justine ESRI country Director. The main goal of the program is to equip the students who undertake Geographic Information System, with knowledge of Modern GIS which involves migrating from ArcMap to Online and Apps and termed as geographic approach to problem-solving, brought to life by modern GIS technology and also, Climate change and Resilience learning responses which tend to make students commit to using science and technology to build a sustainable world.

The main partakers of the program were Prof. Michael Gould (Global Educational Manager of ESRI. Inc), lecturers from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Students from Ardhi University, and Students from Water Institute.
