Ardhi University Hosts a Training of Trainers Workshop On CBET Curricula Development in Land Governance in Eastern Africa for Representatives of 13 Universities

In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance land governance in Eastern Africa, trainers in land administration from thirteen member universities and research institutions under the umbrella of   the Eastern Africa Land Administration Network (EALAN) gathered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at Seascape hotel, for a Training of Trainers on CBET based curricula development focusing on land governance.  The host of this event is NELGA Project Eastern Africa Node hosted at Ardhi University.  The purpose of this training of trainers is to equip the trainers with essential skills in curricula development for short courses based on Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) mode.

During the ToT workshop two participants from each participating university were assigned tasks to develop curricular on priority thematic areas based on the knowledge they acquired and most challenging land governance issues. The developed curricula and the subsequent short courses are in the end intended to improve work performance of the land administration practitioners.

The EALAN network, comprises thirteen esteemed Universities in Eastern Africa which have academic programmes in land administration and the one Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD). The participating institutions include Oda Bultum University (Ethiopia), Ardhi University (Tanzania), Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia),  INES – Ruhengeri (Rwanda), Makerere University (Uganda), the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (Kenya), Technical University of Kenya (Kenya), Université Évangélique en Afrique (Democratic Republic of Congo), University of Burundi (Burundi), University of Juba (South Sudan), University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), and University of Woldia (Ethiopia).

The three days training workshop is one of the EALAN activities which precedes the 2023 EALAN Conference that will run from 27th to 28th July 2023 at APC Hotel and Conference, Bunju, Dar es Salaam.
