Department of Interior Design

Department of Interior Design offers two undergraduate programmes, Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BSc. ID) and Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture (BSc. LA).

Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BSc. ID)

i) Direct Entry (Form VI) Qualifications
Two principal passes in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced Mathematics, Geography or Fine Art. In addition, an applicant must have at least a subsidiary level pass in Advanced Mathematics/Basic Applied Mathematics at A-level.

ii) Equivalent Qualifications
Diploma or FTC in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or Civil and Transportation Engineering with an average of “B‟ or a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Duration: Four years (8 semesters)

Expected Learning Outcome

Knowledge: 
Comprehend and apply the knowledge, techniques, design principles and modern tools of the discipline to broadly identify interior design and construction problems.
Ability to function effectively as a team leader of multidisciplinary teams of consultants.

Skills: 
Interpret ideas and desires of private and government entities into functional buildings and spaces.
Demonstrate awareness of economic, environmental, structural, ethical, legal and regulatory context of construction industry, locally, regionally and globally.

Competence: 
Possess technical knowledge, skills and competences related to production of comprehensive and legible drawings and necessary documents for use in construction activities.
Possess basic education and qualifications necessary for qualifying for examinations for registration with the Architect's and Quantity Surveyor's Registration Board (AQRB).
 

Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture (BSc. LA)

Ability to select and apply the knowledge, technique, design skills, and modern tools of the discipline to broadly solve landscape design and construction problems.
Ability to function effectively as a team leader of  Multidisciplinary teams of consultants.
Ability to interpret ideas and desires of private and government entities into functional, pleasant, ecological and economic landscapes.

Skills: 
Ability to produce comprehensive set of technical drawings of large scale landscape architectural projects.
Ability to demonstrate awareness of physical, economic, biological, legal and regulatory, social, cost and aesthetic aspects landscape architecture and construction locally, regionally and globally.

Competence: 
Ability to qualify for examinations for registration with the Architect's and Quantity Surveyor's Registration Board (AQRB).
Ability to carry out practical and academic research studies from inception to completion.
