The Just City Housing Hackathon at Ardhi University Sparks Hope for Innovative Solutions in the Housing Sector in Tanzania

Ardhi University and FES-Tanzania have joined forces with the Just City Platform’s Housing Working Group to organise a hackathon addressing Tanzania's housing challenges. The event is carried out in collaboration with UN-Habitat, Habitat for Humanity Tanzania, Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity, Tanzanian Federation for the Urban Poor, Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions, Temeke Municipal Council and the University of the Witwatersrand of Johannesburg.

As rapid urbanization reshapes our cities, the hackathon presents a unique opportunity for generating, brainstorming and presenting viable solutions to the housing issues in Tanzania. With 18 housing hackers, the event has ignited a spark to rethink and reshape housing practices in the country. The hackathon is a continuation of Ardhi University’s efforts to strengthen the link between the industry and academia.
